Somerset Nursing HomePeople living at the award-winning Somerset Nursing Home in Frome celebrated National Cat Day on Saturday with the home’s resident cat, Boots.

Boots has been living at Frome Nursing Home as long as anyone can remember and is 14 years old, which means she’s about 72 in human years. Her day mostly consists of sleeping, wandering around the home and rubbing herself against people’s legs, but thankfully there are no mice for her to chase in the building!

The Evolve Household Model of Care which has been implemented at Frome Nursing Home in recent months means that Boots has been enjoying a genuinely homely environment; sleeping on an armchair next to the fireplace or lazing around in the home’s own pub!

Home Manager Margaret Rhodes said: “Everyone living here who got involved in celebrating National Cat Day had a great time and Boots enjoyed the attention, though typically for a cat she pretended not to be bothered! We bought her a lovely treat to honour her long residency at Frome Nursing Home and as a gesture of thanks for the enjoyment and pleasure we get from her relaxing presence in the home. We hope she will continue to enjoy the facilities and homely atmosphere for more years to come.”

Frome Nursing Home supports up to 60 individuals with various nursing and residential needs and is currently recruiting nurses and care workers to join its award winning team.
